—–FAQ/Setting the record straight—–
Q: Did you change your last name or is there some meaning of devisser I don’t know about?
A: (1) Not yet, and (2) Yes. I wrote a story in my senior year of high school that took place in Amsterdam, and thus had to research dutch names for the characters. The main character was supposed to save his friend from his life in the Red Light District, thus, I coined him Devisser: a name which literally means “fisherman”, or fisher of men. This particular name stuck with me for both its meaning and its representation of the first story I wrote that I put thought into; and it also had a nice ring to it. So I’ve been referring to myself as Ryan Devisser for a few years now. (A little bit of Generation Y pop culture is that “Ho” has been a sexual connotation since the 90’s, and I believe my dad changed it to that from Hassan before I was born. So I wouldn’t feel any guilt for changing my last name as well somewhere along the line). I pronounce it differently than how it should be, because it sounds sexier that way. “Deh-viss-air” instead of “Deh-viss-sir”.
Q: What is your expertise?
A: Writing(spec. songwriting, screenwriting, score composition, journalism); Music Production & Engineering; Film Direction.
Q: Interests?
A: More than you can shake a stick at.
